Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Teslasuit, a global leader in advanced wearable technology, is seeking a hands-on and forward-thinking Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical R&D for next-generation wearable devices, including the Teslasuit and Teslaglove. This role combines precision engineering, prototyping, and system-level design with leadership in supplier coordination and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll play a key role in developing mechanical systems from concept to production and integrating mechanical, textile, and electronic components into cohesive, human-centered products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop structural designs for next-generation Teslasuit products
  • Lead architecture-level development focused on integration of mechanical, textile, and electronic systems
  • Assemble, analyze, and test performance of Teslasuit prototypes
  • Manage contractor and supplier relationships, participate in vendor qualification, and support ramp-up to pilot and series production
  • Provide input into EVT/DVT/PVT phases during product development
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, BOMs, test plans, version control records, and manufacturing packages
  • Collaborate closely with electronics and textile engineers to ensure cohesive product integration
  • Contribute to system architecture for modularity and manufacturability
  • Work with quality and regulatory teams to ensure designs meet medical standards, including documentation for FDA submissions and ISO 13485 compliance
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to propose innovative mechanical solutions
  • Continuously optimize DFM and DFA strategies to reduce costs and simplify production
  • Explore new materials, manufacturing techniques, and CAD/CAE tools for wearable product development
  • Contribute to internal knowledge libraries, wikis, and version-controlled mechanical documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a closely related field.
  • Experience designing plastic parts for injection molding and working with various manufacturing technologies
  • Hands-on experience with DFM/DFA analysis and iterative product development
  • Practical experience managing suppliers and contractors for tooling, prototyping, and pilot runs
  • Extensive experience in prototyping, machining, 3D printing, and working in lab/shop environments
  • Strong skills in 3D modeling, assembly design, and drafting for manufacturing (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Proficiency in mechanical design and analysis of high-precision assemblies
  • Experience with CNC machining, laser cutting, and additive manufacturing
  • Familiarity with motion simulation and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Strong command of written and spoken English (Level C1+)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Biomechanics, or Wearable Technology
  • SolidWorks certifications or equivalent CAD/PLM training
  • Injection molding design education or proven experience
  • Experience transitioning prototypes to series manufacturing
  • Cross-functional team leadership experience
  • Knowledge of materials for wearables, such as flexible PCBs, textiles, elastomers, and composites
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards for medical devices (FDA, ISO 13485)

Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Prague, Czech Republic and requires regular travel to our Prague R&D office
  • Ability to work in a lab environment, including occasional use of lab equipment for testing and debugging
  • The role may involve some travel to support remote locations
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours may be necessary for critical issues or planned maintenance

What we offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
