About the Role
Teslasuit, a global leader in advanced wearable technology, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for next-generation medical wearable devices. This role is critical to ensuring high performance, low power consumption, and regulatory compliance in mission-critical systems. You’ll work closely with hardware, software, and quality teams to deliver robust, real-time solutions that meet stringent medical standards for future Teslasuit products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test embedded firmware for medical wearable devices using C/C++ or similar languages
- Optimize firmware for low-power consumption, real-time performance, and memory constraints in resource-limited environments
- Develop and integrate firmware for sensors (e.g., heart rate, SpO2, motion, temperature) to ensure accurate data collection and processing
- Implement and maintain firmware for wireless protocols (e.g., Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi) to enable seamless data transmission to mobile apps or cloud platforms
- Work with Mbed OS or other RTOS or bare-metal systems to ensure deterministic performance for critical medical applications
- Perform debugging, code reviews, and unit testing to ensure firmware reliability, safety, and performance under various conditions
- Collaborate with quality and regulatory teams to ensure firmware meets medical standards, including documentation for FDA submissions and ISO 13485 compliance
- Work closely with hardware engineers to integrate firmware with custom PCBs and with software teams to ensure end-to-end system functionality
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and version control records
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to propose innovative solutions for firmware development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably for medical devices or wearables
- Proven experience with C/C++ programming for microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, STM32, ESP32)
- Hands-on experience with RTOS, bare-metal programming, and low-power embedded systems
- Familiarity with wireless protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi) and sensor integration
- Experience with debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers)
- Experience in commercial development of low-level software for at least 3 years using embedded software development tools (e.g., Keil, IAR, GCC)
- Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Understanding of communication protocols (TCP, UDP) and hardware interfaces (UART, CAN, I2C, SPI)
- Strong command of written and spoken English (Level C1+)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with wearable devices or IoT products
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for medical devices
- Familiarity with medical device standards (FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
- Deep knowledge of ARM architecture, NVIC, stack peripherals, and ability to read assembler instructions
- Knowledge of HAL, CMSIS, and digital/analog circuitry
Working Conditions
- This position is located in Prague, Czech Republic and requires regular travel to our Prague R&D office
- Ability to work in a lab environment, including occasional use of lab equipment for testing and debugging
- The role may involve some travel to support remote locations
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a workstation may be required
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours may be necessary for critical issues or planned maintenance
What we offer
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
